Mark was born in Long Beach, CA to Jerry and Carol Dalrymple. He grew up in Huntington Beach, CA. Mark’s passion for flying airplanes began at an early age, which was inspired by his accomplished father. Mark joked that he earned his pilot license before his drivers license. Mark continued to pursue his flight career, and earned his commercial pilot certificate and multi-engine instructor certificate. Mark attended California State University, Fullerton College in Fullerton, CA. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science In Electrical Engineering he began his career in California and became a Lead Flight Test Engineer at McDonnell Douglas on the MD-11 Flight Test Program. Mark loved to fly and built his own Cozy experimental airplane. He dreamt of moving to Colorado. Typical of Mark, he realized that dream and accepted a job in Colorado as a commercial pilot for Great Lakes and SkyWest. He transitioned to a position as a Senior Flight Test Engineer at Raytheon. The pinnacle of Mark’s piloting career was achieved when he became a Flight Test Pilot for ARINC. He moved on to become an Electrical and Flight Analyst at Aircell. Finally, he worked as a Propulsion Engineer at the FAA where he remained for 11 years and an Acoustics Engineer for 1 1/2 years.
Mark loved his projects, from working on airplanes, to cars, and anything with an engine. Mark especially took pride in working on his dream home in Evergreen, CO where he had resided since 2008. Family was everything to Mark. He enveloped his wife’s family as his own. A loving husband, he never allowed a special occasion to pass without presenting his wife with a unique gift to celebrate a particular event. He looked forward to one day sharing his knowledge of mechanics and use of tools with his grandson. He also loved spending time with his cats Shadow and Kona. He is now reunited in heaven with his other cats Bandit and Katie.
Mark was a beloved husband and devoted friend. He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Dalrymple and mother Carol Dalrymple. He is survived by his lovely wife and soul mate Karen, Son Kyle (Katie) Yarter, grandchildren Brooklyn and Kaden, brother Kevin Dalrymple, and sister Susan Hillenbrand. Mark is also survived by his cherished and beloved extended family and friends.
