Lewis Victor Stone was born in Long Beach, California on January 9, 1937 to Ernest Victor and Ina Edna (Lewis) Stone. Lewis ventured out from Cochise to Tucson, Arizona where he attended the University of Arizona for a time. A friend of his, introduced him to Marjorie Ruth Barnett. They fell in love and were married on August 28, 1959 in Tucson. Less than a year later, Lewis was drafted to the United States Army and was stationed in Baltimore, MD. He faithfully served our country for a couple of years at Ft. Holabird, MD. While in Baltimore, and early in his marriage, Marjorie and Lewis were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. It was also in Baltimore that they had their first son, Roger. Lewis was discharged from the Army, and the family of three moved back to Tucson, AZ, where they had their second son, Bryan. Lewis moved with his young family to Yuma, AZ transferring with the Bell telephone company. After spending about 6 years in So. Arizona Lew had the opportunity to move to cooler climbs, and they moved the
family to Colorado.
Lewis spent many years with Mountain Bell/US West/AT&T working on radio telephones (pre cellphones) and developement of electric protection devices for Power Companies. While living and working in Colorado, he actively traveled the State for work and recreation with his family, including camping, off-roading and getting to know the Rockies. He loved all things, planes, trains and automobiles. He was known for always helping others inside or outside of his church associations.
Lewis is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved wife, Marjorie. He is survived by his sons, Roger and Bryan (Maco Gonzalez); his grandchildren, Rylie (Kate), Rachel (Nate Campbell), Sarah (Ben Ludlow), Landon, Nathan, Sierra, Jenna, Joshua, Samuel; his great grandchildren, Cambria, Ezra, Orion, and Oliver.
A visitation for Lewis will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024 from 10AM to 11AM in the relief society room, followed by a funeral service at 11AM, both at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Lewis will be laid to rest in Ft. Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colorado.
