After 96 years, an abundance of love, and a full life, Helen Marie Parker was granted eternal life on June 7, 2023. She was born in Denver, Colorado on April 6, 1927 to Walter and Anna Marie Anderson. Her childhood was spent growing up with her brothers Walter, and Ralph in West Denver. She attended Annunciation Catholic School, graduating in 1945.
She met a pen pal who was overseas serving in World War II, a soldier by the name of Andrew Parker, who would return after the war and marry his pen pal sweetheart in 1946. Helen and Andrew began their life together, finding out shortly after their wedding that they were expecting. They had Diane in 1946, Donna in 1948, Kathy in 1950, and Mary Kay in 1956. Shortly after Mary Kay was born tragedy struck, Andrew passed away from a massive heart attack. Helen was devastated, and she had 4 children to raise on her own. Her close knit family rushed to her aide. During her daughter's childhoods, Helen was diligent about being there for them. Her proudest accomplishement was her girls and being able to stay home to raise them.
She was an active member in the community too, being a parishoner for many years at All Saints Catholic Church; enjoying bowling with the St. Bernadette's Bowling League; and being a member of TOPS, and active in her retiree union. She was also very family oriented, and she loved spending time with her parents, daughters, brothers and her nieces and nephews. They would play bunko, pinochle, and card games. Later in her life, Helen began a career at Safeway where she worked in the Deli for many years.
When she wasn't raising her beloved daughters, or playing games with her family, or being active in the community, Helen could be found tending to her flower garden. She loved her iris and sweetpea flowers. She also had a passion for traveling. She went to South America to visit with her daughter, Donna and family, she always made sure to visit Donna wherever she moved too; and went on trips with her family to Italy and Hawaii.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Walter and Ralph; her sisters-in-law, Juanita and Edith; her husband, Andrew; and her daughter, Diane Marie.
