A service celebrating the life of H. Jane Haynes will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at the Hiwan Homestead Museum at 10 a.m. Born in 1928 in Troy, Alabama. She and her family spent two years in the Philippines where her father was employed as a mining engineer, returning to the States in 1938. Jane attended Peace Junior College and worked for Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph in Raleigh, NC. She relocated to Washington DC in 1951 where she worked for the Department of the Interior/Bureau of Mines. She and her family moved to Grand Junction, Colorado in 1952 where she worked with the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission. She met, married and started a family with Donald Haynes in Grand Junction and lived in Rio De Janeiro for five years in the late 1950s. They returned to the US in 1961 then made their home in Evergreen in 1963 where they raised their family. She returned to work in 1976 with Hunt Oil Company/Minerals Division, and the Resolution Trust Corporation before retiring.
She is survived by her four children, Susan Haynes, Becky Haynes (Abel), Mike Haynes and Trish Haynes (Tofte) and her former husband, Donald Haynes.. She will be remembered as a loving mother and a kind, giving person, full of life and love for Colorado.
The family requests donations in her memory be made to the Evergreen Animal Protective League and/or the Denver Dumb Friends League.
