She leaves behind her sons, Johnny (Christina) and Leonard (Patricia) Cruz, her daughter, Judy Burgos, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Emma was born to two loving parents, Maximiline and Epimimia Chavez, in Folsom New Mexico in 1931. It is here that she attended school until the 9th grade, and met her sweetheart, Luciano Cruz. They were married in 1950, and promptly moved to Denver, Colorado where they would start their new life. Emma was a devoted wife and mother to four children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved so dearly.
As a strong-willed woman, you could guarantee that if Emma wanted something - she was determined to make it happen. And, if her family were to go on a trip, she'd insist on knowing when they'd be leaving so that she could secure their journey with a prayer. Her humor and spirit remain unforgettable, with memories of her dancing and laughter brightening up the world around her. Nothing could warm you on a cold day quite like Emma's tortillas and green chili, and as long as she had her music playing and the occasional cold beer, you'd see a smile on her face.
May her memory burn bright within the hearts of those she loved, as she will be deeply missed by all.
