Thomas Charles Hilbert, 82, son of George and Annette Hilbert, passed away on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at his home in Lakeway, Texas. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and lived in Shaker Heights, Ohio before moving to Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Thompson Hilbert. His was a blended family with his sons, Thomas Matthew Hilbert and wife Susanne, John Christopher Hilbert and wife Lisa, Peter George Hilbert and wife Holly, Frank Jackson Whitley III and wife Cyndi, Meador Whitley Douglas and husband David, and Clark Thompson Whitley and wife Lory. Additionally there are a total of 16 grandchildren. Tom was especially proud of his ability to remember all of their birthdays!
After graduating from Pennsylvania State University, Tom served in the Army and then worked in the oil and gas industry as a consultant for the defense in damage cases. He was a member of the Episcopal church of the Cross in Austin, TX and St. James the Fisherman Episcopal Church in Islamorada, FL where he served on the Vestry. After retiring, Tom and his wife Anne traveled extensively, going to places such as Easter Island, Cambodia, Nepal, Morocco, Mongolia and Russia, as well as several countries in Africa.
The family wishes to thank Kindful Health Hospice and their staff for taking such good care of Tom on his final journey.
A celebration of life for Thomas will be held Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Church of the Cross Episcopal, 18101 W. Highway 71, Suite 120, Austin, Texas 78738.
