Steve Murray York successfully completed his journey to Heaven, joining the Kingdom of God. He passed peacefully on the Fourth of February 2022. His wife Carolyn, his daughter Carrie and his son Trent were by his side when he passed. Steve was a caring and gentle man, and his legacy most certainly lives on through his family, including through his six beautiful grandchildren.
Steve was born on September 23, 1950, in the thriving metropolis of Pampa, Texas. The son of Jack and Marice York, Steve grew up in Amarillo, went to Tascosa High School, then completed his studies at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Steve met the love of his life Carolyn Cordell York while attending Texas Tech, and they were married in March of 1971 at the young age of 20 years old. After completing university, they moved to Dallas where they raised their two children. In their later years, Steve and Carolyn moved to Spicewood Texas to be closer to their grandchildren and have resided there for nearly twenty years, where they are surrounded by loving friends.
Steve was truly a self-made individual, both personally and professionally. Family was always priority, even while he was putting himself through college and balancing a demanding career. Carolyn was the love of Steve’s life. Married for nearly 51 years, she was the center of his universe. They were an amazing team and friends to everyone around them. Their travels together were incredible, highlighted by their African Safari with their dear friends.
Steve had successfully defeated cancer three times prior to this fourth and final battle. He fought to the end with heart and dignity. Steve is survived by his loving wife Carolyn, his son Trent and his wife Emily, his daughter Carrie and her husband Kevin, his sister Kelly and his six adoring grandchildren – Julia, Ashley, Grace, Natalie, Luke, and Connor. He will be forever missed on this earth…until we meet again. Until that time, he will no doubt be a guardian Angel for all of those that knew him.
Services are scheduled for 11am Friday, February 25, 2022 at Emmaus Catholic Church in Lakeway, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation or Dell Children's Medical Center in his name.
