Nancy Boone Mickler

Daughter of Joe Bailey & Ruby Cheaney

Born June 1, 1932 in Brownwood, Texas

Died September 7, 2023 in Lakeway, Texas

Graduated from Brownwood High School and Hardin Simmons University.

In college she sang with the Ewell Porter’s acapella choir and sang in a girl’s trio with the HSU marching band when they toured Europe and performed for the American troops.

She is survived by 3 children, 10 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.

“Nana” taught school for 40 years in 8 districts and 11 schools – all in Texas. She married an HSU “true cowboy” James Ross Mickler, a champion bareback rider in college. James Ross was a coach and teacher in several Texas schools who preceded her in death.
