J.W and I were best of friends from elementary school through high school. The last time I saw him and his wife was in 2010 at a high school reunion. 
We had many adventures during our growing up years. We met at the church we both attended. Eventually his dad and my dad served as elders together. He was in our home regularly and I was in his as well. i am saddened by his passing. I thought we might see one another at a high school reunion once more.

I just today heard the news. I am so sorry. I know something about how you feel. It helped me to realize I was never going to "get over" the loss but that I could learn to live with it.

JW and Jan have been close friends for several years. JW’s love of music and his heart for service to others made him  a special friend.
Our Friday lunch group misses him as does our Wednesday bible study group.
His relationship with Jesus provides comfort and softens the loss.
We miss him.


J.W. and Jan have been dear friends of ours since we moved to Lakeway.  J.W. was one who was always willing and eager to help anyone with anything any time.  He was caring, loving, and a delight to be around.  He enjoyed life to the fullest, and made our world a bit better every time we were around him.  He is sorely missed by many friends in Lakeway who appreciated his musical talent, his great cooking, and his enjoyment of a good card game.  God bless J.W. and Jan.

JW was kind, easygoing, steadfast, imperturbable. I was grateful for these qualities since JW and Jan were practically 2nd parents to my son Jeff when Jeff and Bryan were in middle and high school.  Even though I was a divorced single woman and sometimes felt like the "odd man out" JW and Jan included me on camping trips with our boys, as a guest at the annual New Year's party and as a friend and frequent visitor in their home. This friendship was cherished. My love and thoughts go out to Jan and Bryan.

JW and Jan were always such wonderful, cool parents.  I have so many incredible memories of going over to their house to bob for apples by the golf course, or go swimming, or later to practice music.  JW was always so happy and involved.  My family and I send all our love.  

We’ve lost a good man and a great friend. JW and I hiked all over North Carolina. We played bocci on the grounds of the beautiful French chateau where we stayed, and we climbed up to Nevada Falls in Yosemite. We and our wives enjoyed opera performances in Charleston, SC and  in Prague; JW and I hiked in Zion, Bryce, and Grand Canyons. We stood in respect at the American Cemetery in Normandy. We both drank dark rum with Coke. He once pulled me out of the Nantahala River when my kayak went out from under me going down the rapids.  As a surprise, one Valentine’s Day our wives planned a trip for the four of us without revealing our destination until we were boarding for New York City. Karen and I shared many birthday parties and holiday events with Jan and JW, and we treasure all these memories.  Our love goes out to Jan and Bryan.
