Dr. Caryl Dalton was born in Mineral Wells, TX on Aug 8, 1949 and passed on Aug 5, 2012 at the age of 62. On Aug 2, Caryl affirmed her life long love for Chris duCharme in a wedding ceremony performed in their home. Caryl is survived by her husband, Chris duCharme, who has been her caregiver and constant companion during her illness. Caryl is also survived by her mother, Yvonne Ridings Dalton Erwin, her sisters Cathy Burling and husband William of Greensboro N.C, Celia Youngren and husband Gary of Plano, TX, brothers Pat Dalton of Mineral Wells, TX, and Joseph Dalton of Troy, New York. Also niece Dana Youngren of Austin, and nephews Patrick Youngren of Austin and Brad Burling of Knoxville, Tenn. She is predeceased by her father Pat F. Dalton, Jr., and grandparents Olan and Effa Grogan Ridings of Ft. Worth, TX, and Pat F. Dalton, Sr. and Emma Clay Dalton of Mineral Wells, TX, and stepfather LeRoy E Erwin of Ft. Worth, TX.
Dr. Caryl was a fifth generation Texan, a descendent of early Texas ranchers in Palo Pinto County. She attended St. Alice school and graduated in 1967 from Nolan High School in Ft. Worth, Texas and received Bachelors, Masters and PhD degrees from the University of Texas. She was a practicing psychologist in the Austin area for many years and founded White Hummingbird Consulting. She touched the lives of many young people and their parents as she worked with troubled children and families. Her interests in healing and her love for world travel came together for her as she learned about other cultures and how they heal the sick. She made frequent trips to Peru and New Mexico to practice native healing rituals.
Caryl made friends where ever she went and was well known in the Austin area.
Caryl's family would like to thank the multitude of friends who have visited Caryl, brought food, treats and much joy to her during her battle with glioblastoma multiforme.
Memorials can be made in Caryl's name to KUT, or Texas Parks and Wildlife. A celebration of Caryl's life and birthday will take place at her home on Wednesday, Aug 8 from 7-8:30 p.m. Other services are pending.
