Carolyn Jo Gottlieb passed away in relative peace on August 8, 2024 at her home she loved in Lakeway, TX. She is survived by her husband Dr. Steven Gottlieb, her children; Lisa Rogers, Deborah Swyers, Michelle Brazel, and Michael Gottlieb, and her grandchildren; Cole Rogers, Carter Swyers, Trent Swyers, Lindsey Rogers, Kelly Swyers, Allie Gottlieb, and Austin Gottlieb.
Carolyn was born in Iowa Park, TX on June 5, 1942 to Johnny H. and Laverne Entrekin. She was the middle child of five: two older sisters, Barbara Rogers, and Jeraldine Brinthaupt, who predeceased her and two surviving siblings, Linda Davis, and Mike Entrekin. When as a teenager her family moved to Wichita Falls, TX she attended Wichita Falls High School and a year at Midwestern University. She married, left school and had two baby girls, Lisa and Deborah, the loves of her life. She stayed in Texas until she and her 2nd husband, Steve, moved to Virginia in 1976 where they remained until 1996 when they decided to retire and return to Texas.
They settled in the Austin area first living on Lake Travis, and then settling in the Lakeway area. Carolyn became one of the initial members of the Presbyterian Church of Lake Travis. As an active member of the church, Carolyn was passionate about helping others and serving God. Among her personal mission activities, she volunteered to distribute food on a mobile food truck, delivered meals to people in the community, and visited patients in the hospital. In addition, she led a women’s bible study group that met weekly. Said by one of the women in the group; “it was Carolyn who made the Sunday School the strong bible study it became. Just what we wanted. Carolyn knew the Bible and could guide us at all times. A brilliant woman!! I can only believe in my broken heart, that God needed an angel to guide the newcomers to heaven.”
Carolyn was also part of a book club and was an avid reader. Additionally, she enjoyed, music, art, theater, nature, and cooking. She also had fondness for cats and at one point she and Steve adopted a feral colony of 14 in addition to their eight indoor cats.
Her greatest passion outside of her role in the church community was being a devoted wife and mother, a role she executed magnificently. She enjoyed spending time with her husband of 47 years, and her children, and grandchildren. She was a kind, caring, and loving person to everyone she met, and was an inspiration to her family.
To honor Carolyn’s life a viewing will take place at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway, Texas on Thursday, August 15, 2024 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Lake Travis.
