Bradley “Brad” Charles Aldrich, age 57, of Austin, Texas passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022. Brad is preceded in death by his father Dr. Robert Charles Aldrich II MD, his brother Gregory Kent Aldrich, and his beloved dog Max.
Brad was born on October 24, 1964 in San Antonio, Texas to LaVerne Tuma Aldrich and Dr. Robert Charles Aldrich II MD. He was raised as one of three boys in San Antonio, Texas where he attended Clark High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio. There he obtained a Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1988, While working towards his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (which he obtained in 1994), he worked at RJO Enterprises and Tektronix as a test engineer. He also attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he obtained 31 hours towards a Ph.D. in medical physics.
After getting his masters degree in 1994 he began work at Motorola as a device engineer. After being a valued employee for two years he spread his wings and began to work at Intel. There he was highly successful as he took on many roles such as a system architect, DSP architect, multimedia architect, and a videophone systems engineer. While working at Intel he co-invented more than 19 patents. He also co-authored thirteen different publications. He was with Intel for 9 years from 1997-2006. After leaving Intel he worked as a multimedia architect from 2006-2010 Marvell. Brad ended his career at NVIDIA as a senior architect.
Brad’s hobbies were endless. He loved all things hunting, fishing, and boating. He was happiest in the great outdoors and was truly the happiest three hours or more from shore. Although he thoroughly enjoyed hunting, when he was on the water, he was in his element. Water skiing, sailing, sailboarding, kiteboarding, and knee boarding, were some of his favorite activities on the water besides fishing. His love of the water was only rivaled by his love of hunting, his hunting expeditions often took him to his deer lease and an occasional hunting adventure in Colorado.
Brad is survived by his mother, LaVerne Aldrich; as well as, his younger brother, Douglas Aldrich and his wife Melanie Aldrich; their four children Amanda Retherford, Courtney Carroll-Morris, Clayton Carroll, and Madeline Aldrich. He is also survived by his older brother Gregory’s children; Ashley Allen and children Kelly and Ashton; Lily DeWitt and her husband Tyler DeWitt and son Tanner; Gregory Kent Aldrich II and his wife Brittany Aldrich.
Services will be held at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home at 1 o’clock pm on April 5th, 2022.
