Karen Margaret Sullivan, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on May 5th, 2024 in Boynton Beach, FL. She was born on June 7th, 1943 in Queens, NY to loving parents who instilled in her the values of hard work and family.
Karen's life was defined by love and devotion to her family. Her marriage to Kenneth for over 58 years was one of her greatest accomplishments. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love and cherished memories. Karen's dedication to her husband and two daughters Kimberly and Kelly, knew no bounds.
As a bridal consultant and realtor for over two decades, Karen brought joy into the lives of countless couples as they embarked on their journey together. Her warmth and kindness made her an exceptional professional in these roles.
One of Karen’s proudest moments came when she bought herself a convertible car after working tirelessly for it. It symbolized not just freedom, but also the rewards that come from perseverance and determination.
Her true passion laid in spoiling her four grandchildren - Caitlin (Jose Benitez), Megan (Hayden Creecy), James, and Erin; along with her four great grandchildren - Laila, Caiden, Mason, and Emma whom she affectionately referred to as "the minis.” They were the light of her life - each one bringing immeasurable joy into every moment spent together.
Karen also loved nothing more than being with her daughter Kimberly and going on shopping sprees and eating at the Cheesecake Factory.
March Madness held a special place in Karen's heart as she loved watching basketball games with enthusiasm that matched any die-hard fan. She found solace cheering for teams during this time each year. In 2005, her husband took a basketball coaching job at Northwood University and Karen never missed a game until her later years. Where you would always see her sitting court side cheering on the Seahawks. Northwood/ Keiser was just an extension of her family.
A lover of shopping sprees,Karen enjoyed indulging herself occasionally but nothing compared to the happiness she felt while showering gifts upon those she adored most – especially during holidays or birthdays where she would go above and beyond making sure everyone felt special.
The wake will be held at Dorsey E. Earl Smith Funeral Home located at 3041 Kirk Rd., Lake Worth FL 33461 on May 9th. Friends and family are welcome between the hours of 2pm-4pm and 7pm-9pm and are encouraged to share stories about how much Karen meant to them.
The burial service will take place at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery located at 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach FL 33411 on May 10th at 1pm followed by a reception at 7397 Water Dance Way Lake Worth , FL 33467 where friends and family can gather for food and can share stories about Karen’s vibrant life while finding comfort among one another during this difficult time.
Karen leaves behind an indelible legacy of love and compassion. She touched so many hearts in ways that will never be forgotten. Her spirit will live on through those who loved her dearly. Rest in peace, Karen Margaret Sullivan, your memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
Karen is survived by her husband (Kenneth), daughter (Kimberly), daughter (Kelly), four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Karen is proceeded in death by her mother (Katherine Wollstadt), her father (John Wollstadt), and Lynne Eversol (sister).
