Joseph A. Loveland died peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL. on October 19, 2012. He was born in Forest Hills, New York, the son of Joseph A. Loveland and Helen Kraus. He is survived by his loving wife Roslyn, sister Claudette Poe, three children; Blair, Leslie and Joanne from a former marriage, one grandchild, Kaci, and several nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Gordon. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and New York University School of Law where he was a Pomeroy scholar and managing Editor of the Law review. After graduation he was with the prestigious New York law firm of Cravath, Swain & Moore for several years before moving to Los Angeles, CA. and formed the law firm of Troy, Malin & Loveland. He later became a Director, Vice - President and General Counsel of Ramada Inns, Dollar Rent - A - Car, the Tropicana Hotels and Casinos, Inc. in Las Vegas and Atlantic City. In 1992 he relocated to Palm Beach, Fl. to become Director, Senior Vice - President and General Counsel of Todhunter International, Inc. (now Cruzan Rum Ltd ).
He was a member of the West Side Tennis Club in Forest Hills, NY, the University Club in NY, the Los Angeles Tennis Club, CA., the Breakers Club, Palm Beach and the Palm Beach Yacht Club.
Joe was a wonderful husband, and friend. He was known for his dynamic personality, his quick wit, his great sense of humor, his intelligence, his love of life, and his many friends. He was an avid tennis player, skier, deep sea fisherman and world traveler. He will surely be missed but is now off on his next great adventure.
