George Leo LaFlam III, beloved father, Pap Pap, brother, son, uncle, cousin and friend passed away early Sunday morning, October 16, 2022. A man of honor, George lived a life of service to his country and his community.
He was born on July 6, 1948, in Wheeling, West Virginia and spent his early years in Martins Ferry, Ohio until moving to Florida as a teenager. He played football for Palm Beach High School and graduated class of 1966. George went on to serve his country in the US Army Reserves from 1967-1973. He attended Florida Atlantic University and Barry University where he graduated with a master’s degree in public administration.
George built a successful career in law enforcement in Palm Beach County and served as Chief of Police and Director of Public Safety for the city of Coconut Creek. George had a talent for fixing anything and an appreciation for cars, old movies, a good bargain and a good meal. He enjoyed sailing in his younger years, loved riding his Harley Davidson and traveling to Disney World with his grandkids. Most of all, George loved his nieces, nephews, grandchildren, family and dogs with all his heart.
George is preceded in death by his parents George and Alma LaFlam and beloved nephew Michael Carr. He is survived by his sister, Cynthy Carr and her husband Mike, two daughters, Lora Neitz of Franklin, NC and Christy Pauley of Franklin, TN, sons-in-law, Ken and Joel, grandsons, KJ, Bailey, Avery and Bryce, granddaughters, Kristen and Addison, nephews, Billy and Christopher, niece, Valaree, her children Bradley and Kera, his loyal and beloved dog, Uma Toots as well as many loving cousins and friends.
A graveside funeral service will be held at Lake Worth Memory Gardens, 3041 Kirk Road, Lake Worth, FL on Saturday, October 29th at 3pm.
