Brian Dennis Wright

Born in Flint, Michigan, Brian moved with his family to Palm Springs, Florida, at the age of 12, and he knew quickly that he found a permanent home in South Florida. After graduating from The King’s Academy in 1985, he attended the University of Miami, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and took great delight in attending all the Hurricanes football games. He was a faithful and proud alumnus of Miami, and he was often decked out in orange and green. Even in his last months, he passionately followed the men’s basketball team’s trip to the Final Four. He went on to earn his Master of Computer Science degree from Florida Atlantic University in 1994.

After college, Brian accepted a job at Pratt & Whitney, where he would go on to work for more than 30 years. He was widely respected by his co-workers and dedicated to his job. Following his diagnosis, he continued to work from home, attending meetings via Zoom and contributing valuable insight to his team.

In 1994, Brian met the love of his life, Andrea, and the two were inseparable ever since. Married in 1995, together they carved out a wonderfully full life in West Palm Beach. Brian’s home, where he and Andrea raised their two children, Jenna and Justin, was his happiest place. Brian was most proud of his children, and he cheered on their academic and athletic accomplishments. He never missed attending Jenna’s volleyball games or Justin’s soccer and volleyball games.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing tennis and ultimate. For many years, his tennis crew would meet every Saturday and Tuesday for spirited doubles matches that often went on for hours. He also played in recreational ultimate leagues, and later in weekly pickup games at Singer Island Beach. He was well-known in West Palm Beach’s ultimate community, and he was thrilled to introduce the sport to Justin. Brian stayed in excellent shape into his 50s, and in recent years he took great joy in playing pickup ultimate alongside his son.

Brian was a member of Family Church Gardens, and he and Andrea loved calling it their church home. A devout Christian and dedicated family man, he lived a life full of joy and contentment. He was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, and uncle. He is already deeply missed.

In addition to his wife, Andrea, and his children, Jenna and Justin, he is survived by his parents, Ed and Jan Wright, his brothers, Brad (Daysi) and Nate (Gretchen), and his nieces, Dylan and Emma.

A visitation for Brian will be held Wednesday, May 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Dorsey-E. Earl Smith Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Lake Worth. A celebration of life service will take place at the funeral home Thursday, May 4, at 3 p.m. with interment to follow.
