Roland Ray Granger, 78 of Lake Charles, passed away in a local hospital Tuesday, March 10, 2015. He was born on July 25, 1936 in Mamou, LA, attended Marion Elementary and High School and graduated in 1955. Upon graduating from high school he attended Sowela. He then went to work Schlumberger from 1956-1968. Roland served honorably in Louisiana National Guards. He was a business and family man. He opened and owned his own business in 1963, the Granger Dozer Service and Shamrock Club., later Bayou Amusement and Granger’s Seafood Restaurant and Lounge. He studied for and received his private pilot license. He loved taking his family on vacations by plane he also enjoyed traveling with his family and friends, riding his motorcycles and/or vehicle with a travel trailer. He has visited every state in the United States; he took vacations in Canada and Europe. Roland also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Stephen Granger and Eldina Granger. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Lois Jean Granger, His daughters; Deborah Sue Savoy and husband James Dillard Savoy; Patricia Diane Faulk and husband Jeffery Scott Faulk, son; Roland Ray Granger II., Step grandson Chris Andre Savoy, granddaughters; Amy Michelle Clift, Amber Nichole Benoit and husband James Cody Benoit; grandsons; Roland Ray Grangers III, Clinton Reed Granger., great- grandsons; Joseph Allen Clift and sister Juanita Ann Granger Mays.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 12, 2015 from 4:00-8:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, with a rosary at 6:00 pm and will resume Friday from 9:00am until time of Service at 2:00pm at Hixson Funeral Home.
