Mary Rembert Hinson, age 71, of Lake Charles, Louisiana passed away on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Rosewood Nursing Home. Mary was a native to Lake Charles from birth, born to parents Joseph "Teeney" and Lucy (Mistretta) Rembert on August 10, 1951. She attended elementary and middle school at Immaculate Conception and graduated from Lake Charles High in 1970. She married Robert "Bob" Hinson in 1976 and remained so for 39 years until the time of his passing.
Mary was known to frequent her "Home away from Home" Joseph's Drive-In (which is no longer standing) across from Locke Park in Lake Charles, LA. She was always known as a "fun loving" woman who was always getting into some kind of mischief. Her favorite phrase for those activities was "Let's get stupid!"
When her daughter Clancy and her friends were together it wasn't usually them getting into trouble, it was Mary. She never knew a stranger and was very loyal to those she loved. She never turned her back on anyone who needed help. She cared for her father, mother, aunt and Godmother when they became ill.
Her favorite hobbies were having a good time with her friends, which included having a beer and barbecuing on sundays. She also liked to watch TV, more particularly the show Little House on the Prairie.
Those there to welcome her into the pearly gates of Heaven are her late husband, Bob Hinson; lifetime companion, Darline Johnson; and parents Teeney and Lucy Rembert. Her very special furry companion Omar ran to meet her at the gate, because we know that all dogs go to Heaven.
Those left to cherish her very special memory are her daughter, Clancy Mullins and husband David of Lake Charles, LA; brother, J.D. Rembert and wife Cindy of Lake Charles, LA, and her furry grandkid, Taco the dog.
Per Mary's wishes she has requested that there not be any services held in her memory, because : " If you had wanted to see me, you should have visited me when I was still around."
Clancy Mullins, Mary's daughter, would like to extend a special thanks to Rosewood nursing home for their exceptional loving care of her mother for 17 years. Also a special thanks to Kristen who was her nurse for the past 8 years.
Clancy would also like to thank Dairaka of Harbor Hospice for her care and love of her mother.
