Leonard Wayne “Doc” Hanks, 60, of Moss Bluff passed away November 27, 2016 at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital with his loving wife and best friend, Linda, at his side. He was born in 1956 to the late Stella and Wilfred Hanks in Lake Charles, LA.
Doc was an avid fisherman and hunter and spent many hours on the water or in the woods. He was also a Harley-Davidson enthusiast and loved the open road, wherever it led. He had a tremendous love of his family and his pride and joy were his four grandchildren, which no Paw Paw could love more. Throughout his lengthy illness of HHT (hht.org) and battling the Cardiac issues which arose from it. He was able to stand strong throughout and continuously used many avenues as a representative to make this disease known to others.
Doc is predeceased by his parents; Stella and Wilfred Hanks and sister; Arthurine Witherwax. He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Linda Hanks, children; Jacob Hanks and Christi Hanks-Lanier and husband Rocky, grandchildren; the boys Evan Lanier and Austin Lanier and the twins, Owen and Ellie Lanier, brothers; Anthony Hanks and Wade Hanks, sister; Stella Heard, and numerous extended family and friends. He will be remembered with love and happy thoughts by all those who knew him.
The visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2016 from 11:00 am to time of Service at 2:00 pm at Hixson Funeral Home, 3001 Ryan St. Lake Charles, LA. 70601. Burial to follow at Old Ritchie Cemetery, Moss Bluff. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
