He was a native of Creole, LA and he lived in Big Lake, LA for the last 26 years. He started off as a mechanic at a local car dealership until he began his successful career in the oilfield, where he worked for the last 35 years. James was a member of the Big Lake Gospel Tabernacle. He was an avid hunter his entire life in Cameron Parish. If he was not working with his cows he was on his tractor or working in his barn. James never met a stranger and his family was his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Broussard; his mother, Marie Lillian Roy; and his brothers, Duncan and Darrell Fuselier. Survivors include his wife, Denise Broussard of 15 years; two sons, James “Jaime” (Tonya) Broussard, Jr. and Eric (Chandra) Broussard all of Big Lake, LA; two stepchildren, Billy Massey of Walker, LA and Samantha Wiggins of Sulphur, LA; one brother, Charles Smith of Hurst, TX and two sisters, Linda Dlouhy of Baytown, TX and Tina LaRive of Beaumont, TX; and nine grandchildren.
His funeral will be at 11 am on Thursday, July 7, at Hixson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. Brother Gary Mann will officiate. Burial will be in St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in Lake Arthur.
