Eddie was a devoted loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid gardener and could fix anything. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for sixty-three years. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WWII, where he served on the USS Bouyant a Mine Sweeper, off the Japanese and China Coast. He was a member of VFW Post 2130 American Legion Post #1. He served as Eucharist Minister at St Theodore Catholic Church and also served as an usher. After 32 years, he retired from Citcon as a supervisor.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruby Fabacher Dufrene of Lake Charles; daughters Connie Leger of Lake Charles, Ruthie Singer and Husband Tommy, of Moss Bluff, and Rita Hughes and husband Jim of Newton Texas; brothers James Dufrene of Lake Charles and Tommy Dufrene of Shreveport, LA; Seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two sons, Eddie Dufrene Jr., and Gary Andrew Dufrene.
Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Lake Charles, on Tuesday, March 06, 2012 at 1pm. Reverend Alan Trouille will officiate. Visitation will be 5-9pm Monday, March 05, 2012, with a Rosary at 7pm, at Hixson in Lake Charles. Visitation will resume at 9am until service time. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery.
