Mr. Turner was born in Hathaway, LA and lived most of his life in Lake Charles and retired to Toledo Bend. He was a graduate of Landry High School. He attended St. Margaret Catholic Church. He retired as a pipefitter/welder from Local 106 with 35 years of service. He worked on pipelines around the world. He loved fishing, hunting, crabbing and always had a new joke to tell.
He is survived by his son, Charles Allen Turner Jr. and wife, Tracy of Superior, WI; daughters, Angela Turner Socha and husband, Lee of Toledo Bend, Jessica Turner Broussard and husband, Albert of Lake Charles, Anita Turner of New Iberia, Donna Horton and husband, Michael of Abilene, TX; brother, Helman Ray Turner and wife, Ellen of Lake Charles;13 grandchildren, 5 step-grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 6 step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, numerous great and great great nieces and nephews mostly known as "Gee Gee's" and many close friends in the Toledo Bend area.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Shelby and Ezolia Tate Turner, two sisters, Alberta Turner and Derley Turner Ancelet.
A mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30am, Saturday, September 8, 2012 at St Margaret Catholic Church. His grandsons will serve as his pallbearers. Visitation will begin Friday, 5:30pm-10pm with a rosary at 7pm at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles and resume Saturday 8am until service time. Burial will be in Bertrand Cemetery in Hathaway, LA.
