Charles was born September 21,1936 in Carlyss to the late Dewey and Eola LeDoux. Left behind to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of 26 years, Betty J. LeDoux, and his beloved brother Kenneth Wayne LeDoux of Carlyss, his cousin Bonnie and husband Wayne Pointer of Lake Charles, cousin Greg Forman of Sulphur, Ronnie Forman and wife Margaret of Omaha, Ark., KayKay and Sue Landry of Carlyss. Aunts, Bernice Reecheer of Longview, Texas and Doris Forman of Sulphur.
When he married Betty, the McGee family became his own. His daughter Denise Hebert and husband Sam Hebert brought much joy into his life. His stepson James Ivory was a great help to Charles when he came home from the hospital.
He will be greatly missed by his brothers-in-law, Dr. James McGee and wife Fay and Danny McGee of Lake Charles, his sister-in-law Joann Sexton of Knoxville,Tn. Granddaughters, Elizabeth McDaniel, and husband Dusty, Kayla Hebert of Dallas. Kristin Ivory and Grandson Brien Hebert of Lake Charles.
His niece Kelly and husband Dr. John Chaconas, who was like a son to him. Their boys, Colin, Jake, Rick Charles and Riley of League City, Texas. His niece Stacy and husband James Wheat of Lake Charles. Nicole and husband Mark and boys Brennan, Ethan, Collin, and Mia. Shauna and Myers Namie, Andrew, Patrick and Isabella of Lafayette.
Nephews, Casey McGee and wife Daphana and their girls Abby and Parker of Kingwood, Texas. Chris McGee and wife Beth of Lake Charles.
Charles graduated from Sulphur High and attended Southwestern University, Lafayette for three years. He left to serve his country and joined the army. He served at Fort Lewis, Washington in a tank division.
After returning home he and his father raised Hereford Crossbreed cattle. He loved working the fields on his tractor.
As a young boy he loved spending time with his mother and Aunt Maggie crabbing in the marsh. He loved Hackberry and he and Betty built their retirement home on land he inherited from Aunt Maggie. It was his pride and joy.
He grew delicious vegetables and fruit trees and was very generous in keeping family and friends supplied.
He had many wonderful friends in Hackberry and loved to ride around and visit. He will be greatly missed by Roger Richard and wife Molly, Kurt and Melinda Sanner, Kakie and Anita Jo Trahan and their sons, Steve, Mark and Chad.
His life long friends whom he attended school and college, Dr. Dick Weber of LaRose, La., Ellis Benckenstein of Carlyss, Pete Thomas, whom he loved as a brother and wife Vada of Carlyss. Charles Ellender was also a life long friend since they were toddlers.
He and his buddies Dick, Ellis, Dan and Bob spent time every year in Gum Cove hunting ducks, geese and fishing. He looked forward to their time together.
Tan Brunet, world champion duck carver and artist was a great friend of Charles' and Charles displayed his art throughout his home.
He considered his cousin Kayla Leger his little sister. He loved her dearly, along with her husband Thomas, sons Tommy and Lucus of Carlyss.
Charles was a sweet, gentle and loving man with a sharp wit. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Williams, Dr. Chin and staff in I.C.U. of WCCH, for their compassion and care of our loved one. Also Dr. Brien Gamborg and Nurse Jane for the years they cared for Charles.
A celebration of his life will be Wednesday, May 18, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Interment will be at Mimosa Pines South, in Carlyss.
