On October 2, 1962, George Donald & Carol Ann Cox welcomed their first child, a daughter, naming her Carolyn Donalda. Three years later, Lyn became the "big sis" as they welcomed their second child, Matthew.
The family resided in Sulphur, LA where she attended and graduated from Sulphur High School, Class of 1980. Then she attended Sowela Technical School, earning an Associates degree in Aviation Mechanics.
She embodied the term "lead by example", she was deeply rooted and proud of her family. Matt may have been the little brother, but he was her biggest hero. She was always the coolest and favorite aunt; spoiling her niece and nephew every chance she got. When they grew up and began families of their own, she was so proud of their accomplishments and was oh so proud to become a great aunt.
Her cheery demeanor would light up any room she entered, ensuring she never met a stranger or enemy, unless it was a frog.
Although having attained her degree, her deep rooted altruistic nature called her to public service where she held many positions; a medic, CPR Instructor, volunteer fire LADY for Houston River and Ward 6 Fire Departments, MAPS responder, a 17 year veteran of Calcasieu E911, Public Education Officer, and everyone's favorite photographer. She took pleasure in bringing joy to others, volunteering her time on Mothers Day and Valentines day to deliver flowers.
She loved her job as a 911 dispatcher, the only thing she possibly loved more were those 2am tone drops, always following them with a happy & cheery message to set the tone before sending "her guys" onward.
She is preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her parents.
She is survived by her brother Matthew (Tina) Cox of Crosby, TX; aunt Wilda (Willie) Carr of Texas; uncle Jerry Cox of Lake Charles; Aunt Jean (Jim) Wittington of Westlake; uncle Burt McGavock of Sulphur; great uncle Bill Darbone of Hackberry; niece Tasha (Michael) Murray of Dayton, TX; nephew Joshua (Leanna) Cox of Houston; great niece Addison Murray and great nephew Titus Cox as well as her extended and public safety family.
