Albert was born somewhere near Kinder, LA, as his birth certificate states, to Ethel and Louis Fuselier Sr. He was the fifth of nine children. At the age of 21, he moved to Denver, CO, and married his lovingly devoted wife, Isidora "Dodie" Gonzales. Together they had 4 beautiful children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. After 20 years, they moved back to Lake Charles, LA, where they would live the rest of their lives together. He would live to celebrate countless Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas celebrations, anniversaries and birthday parties for children, grandchildren, and eventually great grandchildren.
He was a simple man with a gentle nature. He took pride in his work, enjoyed zydeco music, an extreme amount of hot sauce, rice and gravy, and a cold beer. He loved the outdoors, whether it be mowing the grass and working on his garden, or fishing and hunting in the Colorado Mountains. Above all, he loved his family, abundantly and unconditionally. He had an unrelenting work ethic, working his entire career as a pressman. He lived his life beautifully broken with mistakes as we all have, but he's done it with great love for his family and hard work for as long as he possibly could.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 60 years, Isidora "Dodie" Fuselier; brothers, John Fuselier and Larry Fuselier; children Terri Boudreaux and husband David, Albert Fuselier Jr. and wife Rita, and Therese Talbot and husband Mark Sr., all of Lake Charles, LA, and Euric Fuselier and wife Kristi, of Beaumont, TX; 11 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Ethel and Louis Fuselier Sr.; brothers, Joe Fuselier, Louis Fuselier Jr., Clifford Fuselier, Andrew Fuselier, and Michael Fuselier; and sister, Virgie Guillory.
The funeral will be held at St. Martin des Porres Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 1st. The Reverend Monsignor Jace Eskind will officiate. Burial will follow at Prien Memorial Park in Lake Charles, LA. Visitation will be at J.E. Hixson & Sons from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a Rosary at 6 p.m., and will resume 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
His family would like to extend their gratitude to those who cared for Albert during his transition. Dr. Wolf, Dr. Patel, the many caregivers at St. Patrick Hospital, and Nurse Mckenna Talbot. We would also like to thank Brighton Bridge Hospice. Their genuine care and love during this most difficult time will forever be remembered.
Albert will be remembered most for his kind, compassionate, and forgiving heart. He would tell you that each of us was a blessing, but we were the ones who were blessed to have had him. He will be missed more than any words could express, but we know that we will never give up what he felt was his life's duty, watching over his family. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.hixsonfuneralhomes.com.
