Julius George Barkhau, age 82, passed away on April 22, 2024 in his home in LaGrange, Kentucky. Julius was born February 16, 1942 in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Julius Adolf Barkhau and Ruth Arsmann.
Julius spent over 30 years working for Ford Motor Company at the Kentucky Truck Plant as a skilled production team member, mastering virtually every operation required for assembly of Medium and Heavy Trucks. Those mechanical skills not only defined his profession but were a common thread through all of his hobbies and day to day life. He found joy in maintaining his vehicles, tending his garden, repairing anything that was broken, turning wood on his lathe, and most especially building computers from scratch—a skill he acquired later in life.
Julius married his wife of 60 years, Jereline Gividen Barkhau, on March 21, 1964, who survives him at their home in LaGrange, Kentucky.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister Tina (Richard) Sweetland and brother Randy (Sandy) Barkhau; daughter, Tracy Button (Steve); son Keith Barkhau (Heather); 6 grandchildren, Jason (Michael) Button, Kara (Raj) Raval, Mandy (Matt) Yarger, Lori Button, Maddie (Samuel) Omandi, and Lilly Button; and 5 great grandchildren, Lucy, Jack, and Benny Yarger, and Bodhi and Vivienne Raval.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Connie Barkhau.
