Thomas Matthew "Tim" Shepherd

Tim was born December 4, 1949 in LaGrange to William “Hoyt” and Murbes (Smith) Shepherd. On February 23, 1980 he married Marsha Hazel in Ringgold, GA. Tim was employed as a route salesman for Frito-Lay and Kimble’s Food by Design. He enjoyed finding opportunities to solicit laughs and good conversations from people while completing his delivery route. Tim was also known for his talent and passion for music. He followed his love of music with his brother, Michael “Mike” Shepherd, as they toured the southeast during their teenage years with their bandmates in The Cries of London. As an adult, Tim was a bass guitar player in some local bands such as Exit 4 and enjoyed thinking of potential band names for future use.

Tim is survived by his mother Murbes, wife Marsha of 36 years, daughters Anna Rose Shepherd-Jones (Colby) and Mary-Helen Sebastian (Maxwell), grandson Jackson Wyatt Jones, and several nieces and nephews. Tim was a loving son, father, husband, grandfather and friend to all.

He was preceded in death by his brother Mike and father Hoyt.

The family suggests sending memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association. The family also encourages you to honor Tim by taking the time to share a laugh with a stranger or tapping your foot to your favorite song.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 1010 Mooty Bridge Road, LaGrange, Georgia 30241.
