Stephanie R. Yates

Mrs. Yates was born April 8, 1941 in Batesburg, SC, daughter of the late Wilbur and Nila Rikard. She was a homemaker and a childcare provider. Mrs. Yates graduated from Chicora High School and attended Palmer College in Charleston, SC. She was a member of Berean Bible Chapel in Charleston, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon W. Yates, a sister, Diane Hall of Birmingham, AL, two brothers, Wayne and Winston Rikard of Charleston, SC, sisters-in-law, Janice Buttrum, Opal Harrington, Pauline Bragg, and Lois Stapler, and brothers-in-law, Joel W. Yates and Myrl Yates.

Survivors include her children, Kyle and Stacey Yates, Nila and Rick Bouma, and Amanda Patterson, all of LaGrange; grandchildren, Skylar Yates, Cliff Lee III, Noah Bouma, Mason Bouma, Emily Bouma, Wendi Bouma, and Alyssa McCoy; sister, Debbie Warren of Birmingham, AL; brother, Marc M. Rikard of Charleston, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Jimmy McMillian officiating. Burial will follow in Meadoway Gardens Cemetery.

The gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society in memory of Mrs. Stephanie Yates.
