Etta is survived by her mother, Laura Langford; her father, John Langford; her most favorite Nana, Shirley Langford; aunts, uncles, countless cousins and extended family who adored her. She will be missed by friends, classmates and teachers; Etta was loved by absolutely everyone who ever met her.
At the tiniest two pounds and thirteen ounces, Etta made the grandest appearance on September 30, 2008 in Columbus, Georgia. She was a beloved former student of Rosemont Elementary and was the same in the first few days of her eighth grade year at Long Cane Middle School.
Etta had the most creative spirit; she loved writing, art, and music. She had the most diverse playlist you could imagine; from Broadway musicals to Billie Eilish to Britney Spears. Etta lived for those Friday nights with her Nana. She loved all animals and was always thinking of others; any worry of a friend was a worry of hers. Etta’s kind heart and intuitive soul felt emotions far beyond a thirteen year old’s capacity. Without her, our lives will never be the same.
From one of Etta’s very favorite Broadway shows: “There are moments that the words don't reach. There is suffering too terrible to name. You hold your child as tight as you can and push away the unimaginable.”
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary located at 1010 Mooty Bridge Road in LaGrange, Georgia.
