Claude F. "Eachie" Foster, Sr.

Mr. Foster was born November 26, 1913 in Atlanta, GA, son of the late Clarence Sidney Foster and Emma Dorsey Foster. He was a lifelong member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Mr. Foster and his wife of 74 years, the late Adeline Valeri Foster, were the first couple to be married in the Old St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Church Street on June 20, 1938. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Claude “Frankie” Foster, Jr.

Mr. Foster played golf as a member of Highland Country Club for over 60 years. He was the second generation owner of Foster Plumbing during which time he and his father installed the fountain on LaFayette Square. Foster Plumbing celebrated its 100th year in business in 2013. After retirement, Mr. Foster stayed busy, tending cattle at his farm at Liberty Hill, gardening at home, even making muscadine wine. He loved cooking spaghetti with his wife on Sundays, and he was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs.

Survivors include his son, James “Jimbo” (Nancy) Foster of LaGrange; daughter, Cecilia (David) Edwards of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Tripp (Staci) Foster, Linny (Lindsey) Foster, Sidney (Rachel) Foster, all of LaGrange, Kasey (Adam) Bittner of Atlanta, GA, Nicholas Foster of Portland, OR, Foster (Corrinne) Edwards of Norfolk, VA, Frank Edwards of Houston, TX, and Mary Adeline Edwards of Atlanta, GA; and great grandchildren, Ali Foster, Cal Foster, Sarah Bittner, and Ansley Bittner.

The Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 A.M. Friday, January 10, 2014 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Ronnie Madden officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be said on Thursday at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home by Deacon Wayne Nacey and the visitation will follow from 6:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church or West Georgia Hospice in memory of Mr. Claude F. “Eachie” Foster, Sr.
