Mr. Maddox was born February 24, 1919 in Whitesville, GA, son of the late Charles Baker Maddox and Sarah Hudson Maddox. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange and served as an Elder and Deacon. Mr. Maddox was with the Maddox Page Funeral Home as a funeral director before retiring. He was a past member of the Highland Country Club and served on the Board of Directors for the LaGrange Housing Authority and the LaGrange Personal Aid. Mr. Maddox was a U.S. Army Veteran who served in Europe in War World II. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Emily Britton and Janie Dodgen, and two brothers, Hudson Maddox and Notley Maddox.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Fleeth Maddox; daughter, Paula Thurman; son and daughter-in-law, Cam and Carol Maddox; three grandchildren, Cameron Thurman, Asa Thurman, and Carter Thurman; one great grandchild, Kayleigh Thurman; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside memorial services will be at 12:30 P.M. Friday, November 9, 2012 in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The memorial service will follow, at 1:00 P.M., at First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange with Dr. Douglas DeCelle and Dr. Bill Conine officiating. The gathering of family and friends will be in the fellowship hall immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, 120 Broad Street, LaGrange, GA 30240 or West Georgia Hospice, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, GA 30240 in memory of Mr. Charles C. Maddox.
