Roger Buell Trimble, age 88, of San Diego, California passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Roger was born November 10,1933 in Ohio. In death he will be re-joined with our mother, Pauline Arena Trimble. He is survived by his four children, Karlene Dionisopoulos (George), Judy Snelling, Shaylene Lewis (Jeff), and Lorenzo Trimble. He is also survived by his ten grandchildren, Aaron Snelling, Nicole Minden (Johnny), Shea Ledbetter (Ryan), Rowan McGreavy (Collin), James Dionisopoulos, Addison Snelling, Anthony Lewis, Lesley Lewis, Cambria Trimble and Sophia Trimble. He is also survived by his brother Patrick Trimble of Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.
Roger was raised on a farm in Ohio and while the boy left the farm, the farm never left the boy. He maintained a love of farming and John Deere tractors throughout his life. He joined the marines after high school and was stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco. It was there he met the love of his life, Pauline Trimble, who was also in the Navy. They were married on Treasure Island and received Honorable Discharges after they were married.
Roger originally wanted to be a diesel mechanic and moved with Pauline back to Ohio where they gave birth to their first child, Karlene Grace. It wasn't long before Paula wanted to be near her family in California, so they packed it up and moved to San Jose where Roger found work as a draftsman. He also began to attend college to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before he could complete his studies, they gave birth to a second daughter, Judy Lynn. Although he did not complete his degree, he was an innate Engineer and over his lifetime invented many little "gidgets and gadgets" for his own personal use.
Soon they had a third daughter, Shaylene Ann and Roger was offered an Engineering position with an optical company in New Orleans. The young family spent four years in New Orleans where Roger and Paula made many good friends and memories. However, they longed to return to California and soon Roger found a job in San Diego, their final destination. It was in San Diego that they had their fourth child and only son, Lorenzo Roger.
Roger supported Paula's desire to get her teaching credential and establish her own career. He spent many evenings with us kids while our mom attended night classes.
Roger and Paula made an incredible union with their dedication to each other and to their children. They both had a sense of adventure and going off the beaten path. They created many memories for all with regular family camping trips, ski vacations, Sunday drives and just being together as a family.
Their devotion paid off as they were blessed with 10 grandchildren. Their lives centered on providing support to their children and grandchildren in any way they could from babysitting to preparing weekly Friday night dinners.
Their legacy lives on in all the many "life skills" they taught us and our strong commitment to each other as one family.
