Rudy was born July 24, 1939 in Harlingen, Texas where he also attended and
graduated from Harlingen High School in 1957.
He was preceded in death by his father Rodolfo Lozano, his mother Consuelo
and his sisters Celina and Sally. He is survived by his wife Emily, Sisters Nelda
and Mary, his sons Rudy Jr and Mark, daughter Christina, stepsons Peter, Alex
and Francisco as well as his grandchildren Taylor, Presley, Paulo, Emilio and his
great grandson Rowen.
He served his country and became a decorated Marksman Rifle Sharpshooter for
the US Army National Guard from March 2,1962 and was honorably discharged
on January 28,1967. After his career in the armed forces, he’s continued to give
back to the community and taught mathematics at Lathrop Intermediate School
in Santa Ana, California for 35 years.
He loved taking his son Mark on joy rides in his Black Limited Edition Grand
National and eventually bought the car of his dreams, a band new, shiny blue
Chevy Corvette. Which he regularly joked and referred to as his second wife.
After Rudy retired from teaching, he continued to break all barriers known the
world over as a senior World Championship Powerlifter. It seems it were just
yesterday, eleven years ago when he broke the Guinness Book of World Records
in his age group for benching 402 lbs, weighing only 180 lbs at seventy years
old!
He was the stuff of legends making it into Halls of Fame and history books. The
oldest guy you might have seen at Venice, California’s Famed Muscle Beach had
a heart of gold! Always greeting a stranger with a firm handshake, a wide smile
and never without a charming compliment to add. With sugar on top!
After suffering a stoke, he maintained a humble and positive attitude toward his
health. He looked forward to his physical therapy hoping to work out again five
days a week and kept smiling and joking through his last days. He will be greatly
missed, always in our hearts and never forgotten.
