Peggy Ann is survived by her husband, Marvin of Harlingen, TX, daughter, Emily Ann, and her husband James Robert Allen II of Llano, TX, grandsons James Robert Allen III and Dustin Anthony Allen, brother Edmund D. (Becky) Williams, Jr., of McAllen, TX, nieces Stacey Rooker and Shenese (Scott) Glover, and nephew Allyn (Amanda) Anderson, several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Peggy Ann was born in San Angelo, TX on October 28, 1938, to Edmund D. and Beatrice Williams, both deceased. She graduated Valedictorian from Benavides High School, Benavides, TX in 1957. She received a BA from SWTSU, San Marcos, TX in 1961, with a major in Speech/Drama and minor in English.
Her college activities included Alpha Delta Chi Sorority, Association of Women Student Council, College Players Dramatics Club, Alpha Chi Honor Society, Kappa Delta Pi Honorary Education Fraternity and Bobcat Marching Band. She received recognition for Academic Excellence in Speech (1960) and Dean's List Honors (1960).
Peggy Ann began her teaching career in Los Fresnos, TX, where she taught English at Los Fresnos Junior High for three years. Then she and her family moved to San Marcos where Marvin worked on his master's degree. She taught Speech and Debate for one year at San Marcos High School. After returning to the Rio Grande Valley, Peggy taught English at Harlingen High School for one year. THe following 19 years she taught at Memorial Junior High teaching English and Speech and directing the one-act play for several years. After Memorial Junior High, she spent the last six years of her career, teaching English and Speech and direction one-act play at Vernon Junior High.
Peggy's hobbies were traveling with family, reading, creative writing, sewing, scrapbooking and needlepoint.
A visitation for Peggy will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, Texas 78559. A chapel service will occur Friday, May 17, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. followed by a burial at 11:00 a.m. at Heavenly Grace Memorial Park.
