Jonathan was a pastor at Mount Calvary Christian Church for over 7 years, and was an active member for over 10 years. He was devoted to his family, friends, church and community with unconditional love. He was always rescuing stray animals to find them a loving home. He loved playing cards with his grandmother Dotty. He served as a leader and spokesperson for the local LGBT and faith community.
Jonathan is survived by; brother Nathan W. Powers and sister Kelli Patterson; grandmother Dorothy "Dotty" Collins, partner Roger Cazares, aunt Dottie L. Melko, niece Bayleigh Powers, cousin Dawn Stark, cousin Brandon Powell, cousin Justin Powell, cousin Stratton Powell, nephew A.J. Goldberg and nephew Luis Johnson, grandniece Kayla Greene, grandnephew Kyle Greene. He loved his fur-children Sandy Patty, Sandy Kelly, Beiber, Raja, Lucky and Jibbs.
Jonathan was preceded in death by; mother Mary Lee Irwin and father Nathan Clyde Powers, grandfather L.L. "PeeWee" Irwin, uncle Gary W. Irwin, niece Sabrina M. Powers and former loving partner Alan Rios.
A celebration of Jon's life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Road, La Feria, TX.
