Jesus Tamez, age 81, of Mercedes, Texas passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Jesus was born July 24, 1940 from Emilio and Maria Tamez. Mr. Tamez was an Army Veteran who served 2 years. His hobbies included farming, dancing, playing cards, playing bingo, and fishing. But most of all, he loved helping people.
Jesus is survived by his former wife, Rafaela Tamez; his daughter Blanca Estella Tamez; his son Jesus Tamez Jr. (Bridget Tamez); his daughter Maria Teresa "Terry" Tamez; his son Javier Tamez (Isa Tamez); and his granddaughter Crystal Martinez.
He was blessed with 16 grandkids and 24 great-grandkids.
A visitation for Jesus will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland, 6705 FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596. A prayer service will occur the same day at 7PM. Before the burial, there will be a short visitation from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM Thursday, June 30, 2022 at Funeraria Del Angel Highland. The burial will occur Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, 2520 Inspiration Rd, Mission, TX 78572.
Serving as pallbearers are Jesus Jr., Javier, Terry, Charlie, Kaitlyn, Daniella and Esmeralda .
