Isaac Humberto Cantu, age 85, of Harlingen Texas, passed away on Monday, June 21, 2021. Isaac was born June 3, 1936 to Antonio Cantu and Estefana Rutledge in Raymondville, Texas. Isaac proudly served his country in the Army during the Korean War, and was a member of the American Legion, Post 205. He also worked and retired as a Master Electrician and A/C Refrigeration Technician and Instructor. He loved his craft and enjoyed sharing his knowledge with anyone willing to learn.
Isaac loved his family and was passionate about studying God’s word, he loved traditional gospel music, doing handy work around the house, and enjoyed sharing life stories and “Did you know” facts.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Irene Cantu, daughters; Norma Pearson, Vicky Cantu (Robert De la Fuente), brother; Danny (Mary) Cantu, his grandchildren; Amanda (Ben) Percival, Alyssa Garza, Karyn Pearson, and Abbey Vela, great grandchildren; Leylah, Lacy, Luke, and Oliver along with numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Isaac is preceded in death by his parents: Antonio and Estefana Cantu, son Joey Cantu, brother’s Thomas Rutledge and Gabriel Cantu, his sister Mary Rose Prince, and his first wife Minerva Cantu.
Visitation for Isaac will be held Friday, June 25, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, 26873 N. White Ranch Rd, La Feria, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021, 11:00 AM at Heavenly Grace Funeral Home, and Interment of ashes with full military honors to follow at 1:00 PM at Mont Meta Memorial Park, San Benito, Texas.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Shridahar Kotta and his staff, Valley Baptist Medical Center’s 4th floor staff, and Harlingen Nursing and Rehab Center for the excellent care they provided.
