Fergus (Fergie) Stanley Macomber, of Kalaheo, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at home on Aug. 15, 2024, at the age of 82. He was born on Aug. 10, 1942, in San Diego, California, and spent his adult life on Kaua‘i as a general contactor, ocean lover, lifelong surfer and motorcycle enthusiast. He was a 2nd degree black belt in Kajukenbo. Ferg was a good, kind friend, generous, gentle and loved by so many.
He is survived by his loving partner Lynn Black, sons Orion Macomber (Talia Smith), Peter (Andra) Macomber, daughter Jennifer Macomber, grandchildren William, Francesca, brother Philip (Robin) Macomber, sisters Janet (John) Peterson, Cyndi Potts, nephews Chad, Corey, Sean, Travis, niece Melissa, ex-wife Heidi Smyser, extended family Kim Black (Robby Keown), Kristen (Ian) Jung, Mailah, Levi and Canon, along with so many close friends.
“Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “holy smokes…what a ride!””
Ferg worked and played well and hard and did just that.
A paddle out to honor our dear friend will be Sept. 14, at PK’s, Lawa‘i Beach Road, starting at 10 a.m.
