IN THE CARE OF
Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery
Sylvia Ann Rude, 82, of Kokomo, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. She was born May 21, 1941 in Delphi, Indiana to the late Raymond and Mabel Shockley.
Sylvia married Ned Rude in 1960 and together they raised 3 children. She and Ned loved to travel, especially to Florida during the winter months. She worked for Dr. Simons for over 20 years before her retirement. Sylvia didn't know a stranger and she would help anyone in need. One of Sylvia's most selfless acts was taking in two young men and making sure that they graduated high school. Both men even went on to join the military. She was a family woman and enjoyed spending time with her kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Her grandkids will forever cherish their Mamaw singing to them.
She attended Fairview Baptist Church for a number of years until her health declined.
Sylvia is survived by her husband of 63 years Ned Rude; children Julie Wohlford, Mark (Jane Mitchell) Rude, Kelley (Ron) Isenhart; grandchildren Matthew Wohlford, Samantha Rudolph, Corey (Candace) Jett; great-grandchildren Laelynn Wohlford, Woodson Rudolph, Luke Wohlford; and siblings Raymond (Jeanne) Shockley, Janet Garner, and Michael (Sheryl) Shockley.
In addition to her parents Sylvia is preceded in death by 3 sisters, 3 brothers, and her son-in-law Greg Wohlford.
A visitation for Sylvia will be held Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home & Cemetery, 2097 West Alto Road, Kokomo, Indiana 46902, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Sylvia's memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington DC, Washington, D.C. 20090. The family would like to thank the staff of Bloom at Kokomo for the love and care of Sylvia.
