Rose Marie (Purvis) Roach, 81, of Kokomo went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, May 22 at 3:57pm, surrounded by her loving family. Rose was born April 2, 1938 in Kokomo, Indiana to Stanley L. and Irene Marie (Floyd) Purvis.
On April 2, 1954, Rose married her beloved husband, Robert Lewis Roach and together they raised 4 wonderful children. Although Rose worked for 10 years at Delco, her focus was her family. She was an amazing seamstress and handmade clothing for her children and grandchildren with love. She and Robert loved cooking for their family at the holidays, baking many varieties of pies; the kids especially remember her famous mock apple pie. Rose was a founding member of Faith Tabernacle Church here in Kokomo and served on the board until her passing. Above all, Rose loved the Lord and lived to serve Him, even praising him, with hands raised high, in her final hours here on this earth. She is now in the arms of the Lord she loves so dearly.
Rose is survived by her children, Janet Nelson, Steve (Peggy) Roach, Mark Roach, and Cassandra “Sandy” Smith; brothers, Tom (Barb) Purvis, Jim (Donna) Purvis, John (Shirley) Purvis, and Reverend Daniel (Kay) Purvis, Sr.; eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her loving husband, Robert, Rose was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Paul and David; and her sisters, Mary and Ruth.
Family will receive friends from 9:30am – 1pm at Faith Tabernacle Church, 1300 S Ohio St, Kokomo, IN 46902 with service to follow at 1pm, officiated by Rev. Daniel Purvis, Sr. Burial will directly follow the service at Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Faith Tabernacle Church.
