Richard Freeman, 85, Kokomo, passed away on Monday, September 26, 2011, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 6, 1926, in Monroe County, to Charles Jay and Verna Agnes (Thacker) Freeman. On June 5, 1948, he married Grace Marie Shaver, and she survives.
He served in the United States Navy during World War II and later worked at Chrysler until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, IOF, and Local UAW 685 and volunteered at Howard Regional Hospital for 15 years.
In addition to his wife, Grace Freeman, he is survived by one son, Daniel Edward (Adriane) Freeman, Kokomo; one daughter, Linda Sue (Richard) Martin, Kokomo; two brothers, Robert (Flo) Freeman, Clermont, and Thomas (Linda) Freeman, Spencer; two sisters, Marcella Dyer, Linton, and Beverly Roberts, Williams; seven grandchildren, Sara (Bill) Munn, Seattle, Washington, Alex Stang, Seattle, Washington, Samuel Freeman, Heidi Freeman, Jensen Freeman, Adriana Freeman, and Sally Freeman, all of Kokomo; and two great-grandchildren, Lola Haulter, and Sullivan Munn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Tommy Freeman officiating assisted by Pastor Jeff Sexton. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist.
