Mary Louise McCauley, 87, Kokomo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at St. Joseph Hospital. She was born June 1, 1926, in Kokomo, to Frank Cheever and Eva (Robertson) Cheever-Blessing in the same house on N. Buckeye that she lived in most of her life. On September 6, 1945, she married William McCauley, her first and only true love, and he preceded her in death on March 5, 2002.
She worked as a cafeteria worker for Kokomo Center Township Schools, at Roosevelt and Wallace Schools, from 1965 to 1990. She loved basketball and was an avid #1 fan of the Kokomo Wildkats where her grandson is the current coach. She was a member of the Kiwanis Golden K Club for over fifteen years. She loved the Lord and was a member of First Friends Meeting in Kokomo.
She is survived by three children, Linda (Charles McGuire) McCauley, Greentown, Max (Lynn) McCauley, Kokomo, and William (Marcia) McCauley, Louisville, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Jennifer (Ben) Knock, and Brian (Amy) McCauley; four great-grandchildren, Alivia and Sloane Knock, and Andrew and Nadia McCauley; several nieces and nephews; and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Earl Blessing; two brothers; one sister; one half-brother; one step-brother; and one step-sister.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at First Friends Meeting, 1801 Zartman Rd., Kokomo, IN 46902, with Pastor Gary Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Kiwanis International.
