Marjorie Somerton Carver, age 100, passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, at Bloom Kokomo. She was born in St. John's Newfoundland, a dominion of the British Empire at the time, on September 11, 1924. The daughter and only child of Herbert and Celia (Somerton) Noseworthy.
Following her graduation from Bishop Spencer College in commercial studies, she went to work at Fort Pepperrell Military Base and was employed as a secretary in Command Headquarters. It was during her employment at Fort Pepperrell that she met her future husband, Harry Daniel Carver, a private and MP in the U.S. Army Air Corps. They were married on June 4, 1946, in St. John's Newfoundland. In the fall of that year, she moved to Kokomo, Indiana to begin married life with her husband in his hometown. Together, they had four children. Marjorie attended St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and was a member of the Altar Guild and a Sunday School teacher. She later attended Holy Trinity Anglican Catholic Church in Peru and then Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Marjorie is survived by her children Brian Carver (Kathy), Lorraine Carver, David Carver (Vickie), nine grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, son, Harry Daniel Carver Jr., and grandson, Jonathan Carver.
