Loren Otto Roberts, 89, of Kokomo passed away at 2:35 PM Monday December 31, 2018 at IU Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis. Born December 1, 1929 in Kokomo, he was the son of the late Oliver Roberts and Nellie (Manship) Roberts. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He married Dorothy Mae (Abner), and she preceded him in death on May 18, 2015. He was employed with Continental Steel for over 28 years; also worked for Chrysler for 9 years, retiring in 2003.He loved woodworking, bowling, horseracing, dog racing, and watching the grandkids play ball and playing with his grandkids. He also loved eating bologna, chips, and candy.
Survivors include two sons Michael (Barbara) Roberts of Kokomo, Ricky (Thresha) Roberts of Palmetto, Florida; one daughter Karen Jo (Geronimo) Gonzalez of Kokomo; grandchildren Clint (Shila) Roberts, Chet (Barbarann) Roberts, Heather (Gabino) Gonzalez, Michael (Rachael) Roberts, Jennifer Massey, and Angelica Gonzalez; great grandchildren Katelyn and Aleena Roberts, Dylan and Frankie Roberts, Loren, Karen, Dale, and Brayden Gonzalez, Fallen and Quinn Roberts, Christian and Colton Massey, and Nevaeh Gonzalez; one great great grandson Lennon Pegg; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, six brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday January 5, 2019 at Ellers Mortuary Main Street Chapel, 825 South Main Street, Kokomo. Pastor Ken Spangler will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4-8 PM Friday at the mortuary. Burial will take place at Beech Grove Cemetery, Salem, Indiana.
