Keith “Andy” L. Anderson passed away on July 8, 2017 at the age of 93. He was born and raised in Logansport as one of nine siblings born to the late Clemens and Ogle Miller Anderson. After graduating from Logansport High School in 1942, he enlisted in the US Army in April of 1943 and served in the European Theater of Operations in Central Europe. During WWII’s Battle of the Bulge, he received 3 Bronze Stars for meritorious service in combat and also was awarded the Military Victory Medal. He was married on New Year’s Eve in 1942 to the late Helen Abbott Anderson, the love of his life. He shared the next 58 years with her, and they were his happiest years. Following his military service he served on the Kokomo Police Department for 23 years and attained the rank of Chief of Police. Upon his retirement from the police force, 1978, he and his wife spent many happy years at Bruce Lake, Indiana. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police of Kokomo and the Elks Club of St. Petersburg, FL.
He was preceded in death by his 8 siblings, Jack Anderson, Mary Engelbrecht, Dorothy Hauss, Martisha Thimlar, Kathryn Freeman, Eleanor Holsinger, Geneva Shuman, and Virginia Anderson.
He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and a very dear friend, Joe McLees. He never knew a stranger, and enjoyed conversing with all he met. The staff at Miller Manor where he resided the last month of his life said they were always greeted with a smile.
Memorial contributions may be made to FOP Lodge 078 – “Cops for Kids”, 102 W. Markland Avenue, Kokomo, IN 46901. Funeral services will be at the Ellers Mortuary, 3400 Webster Street, Kokomo, IN on Wednesday with calling from 10:00 – 11:30 am followed by services at 11:30 am.
