Upon Joan’s graduation from high school, she went to receive a Bachelors in Education and an Associate’s in nursing. She began her nursing career in May of 1977, spending the majority of time at Howard Community. She was a nurse and an educator. She taught diabetes classes for hundreds of her clients for many years, up until the day of her passing. She made a definite impact on people’s lives educating them on the subject. It was her absolute love. Joan was heavily involved in her church and was a member on numerous community committees. She loved to travel. She has visited 48 states and beyond; enjoyed antiquing, and loved spending her time at the lake house. Joan loved her family and holiday gatherings. She will be missed by her family and friends.
Joan is survived by her son; Timothy Peterson, daughter; Danel Peterson and husband Charles Johnson,
and grandson; Kenneth Peterson and Fiance Joybeth Bryan.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, and daughter Dian Goodwin.
The family will offer visiting hours Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer; 705 Southway Blvd. East, Kokomo. If you would like to make a contribution, they may be directed to Project Access Health in Kokomo and Redeemer Lutheran School.
