Jeanne Roselle Cooper

Jeanne Roselle Cooper, 95, passed away March 18, 2024 while living at Century Villa in Greentown,
Indiana.
She was the daughter of Joseph and Gladys (Whiteman) Strauss, born in Mishawaka, Indiana on
September 26, 1928.
Jeanne was brought up in the Catholic Church and later became a member of the West Street Christian Church in Tipton. She later joined her children attending their churches. Later in life when unable to get out, she would always watch several TV ministries.
Jeanne received her nursing degree in 1951 from Indianapolis General Hospital. She started her career in Obstetrics and Surgery at Mercy Hospital in Elwood, IN. That same year, she moved to Tipton and
worked at Tipton Hospital where she continued to be an obstetrics nurse. Jeanne was very proud of
delivering 21 babies all by herself while waiting for the doctors to arrive for delivery. In 1972 she was
Nurse Supervisor at Higgins Nursing Home. In 1991 she received her certification in Podiatric Radiology
while working for her oldest son at his practice in Elkhart, IN. In addition to working in healthcare, she
was a wonderful artist and collector of many things.
Survivors include two sons, Randall (Wendy) Cooper, Mark (Sharon) Cooper, and one daughter, Lisa
(Gordon) Cope. Grandchildren, Joshua (Michelle) Cooper, Jeni (Aaron) Cooper, Brandon (Jennifer)
Cooper, Brittany (Matt) Moloch, Jeremy (Bri) Sullivan, Adam (Tiffannee) Sullivan, Courtney (Rick)
Sullivan, Morgan (Shawn) Tokarcik, Makenzie Rogers, Stacy Murray, and Kathi Murray,
along with 17 great grandchildren.
Jeanne was preceded in death by parents; step-mother, Lena Strauss; adopted daughter, Jane Ann Kaiser; sister, Joanne Sullivan; brother, Jerry Strauss.
She wrote in her diary, “I love my children more than anything. Also, my grandchildren and my
precious great grandchildren. I hope I live long enough to see them grow up.”
The family would like to thank the staff at Century Villa for giving the excellent care that Jeanne
received while living there, and for their generous love and compassion during her passing.
A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Century Villa
Greentown.
