Herbert Francis McQuiston, aged 90 years, passed away Saturday, August 13th, 2022, at his home. He was born March 6th, 1932, in Kokomo to the late Lewis C. McQuiston Sr. and Lida (Stephens) McQuiston. On March 8th, 1958, he married Barbara Jean Grant, who preceded him in death on July 25th, 2017 after 59 years of marriage. Herbert served proudly in the Korean War from 1951 to 1954, earning the rank of Private First Class, 40th Infantry Division. After returning home, he returned to work at Continental Steel Corporation for 21 years until its closing, and then helped clean out the buildings for another month.

Everyone Herb met was a friend, he never seemed to meet a stranger. Herb is survived by five grandsons, Chris McQuiston, Beau Dutton, Alex McQuiston, Zack McQuiston, and Andrew Seagrave, four step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, Iris and Justin McQuiston, six step-great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, Ronan Stern, and many loving nieces and nephews. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, seven sisters, and his sons, Brian C. “Chris” McQuiston and Timothy G. “Tim” McFarland. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was lucky enough to meet him. A viewing for Herbert will be held at 1 pm at Sunset Memory Garden in Kokomo, followed by funeral services at 2 pm.
