Obituary of George L. Killian
George Lawrence Killian, 90, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Kokomo. George was born on December 11, 1926 in Evansville, Indiana to the late George and Mary (Pike) Killian. Following high school, George enlisted in the United States Army and served as a heavy equipment operator in the Philippines. After being honorably discharged, George returned to Evansville and was employed by International Harvester for ten years. He would go on to work at Delco Electronics in Kokomo as a model maker, where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 1993. On October 2, 1948, George married the love of his life, Doris M. (O’Bryan) in Evansville. She preceded him in death on July 15, 2012. George and Doris were faithful members of St. Patrick’s Church in Kokomo for over 40 years. George was also a member of the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed singing and whistling, golfing, and fishing. He was also very encouraging with his sons’ activities while they were growing up. George is survived by his two sons, Miles Killian and Mark (Minnie) Killian; brothers, Wayne (Janice) Killian, and Bill Killian; sisters, Janice Arvin, and Sharon (Paul) Burns; grandchildren, Jamie Killian, Troy Killian, Jason Killian, and Angie Killian; and great-grandchildren, Solomon Stein, Simon Stein, and Joseph Owen. There will be a visitation for George on Thursday, October 26th from 4-7 pm at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home in Kokomo. There will be a second visitation on Sunday, October 29th from 1-4 pm at Alexander Funeral Home – North Chapel in Evansville, Indiana, and a funeral service will be held on Monday, October 30th at 11:00 am at the funeral home in Evansville.
