William Douglas Ramsey Jr.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William Douglas Ramsey Jr., a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, and life partner. Doug peacefully left this world on July 26, 2023 with his family by his side, leaving behind a profound void in the lives of all who knew him. Born in Knoxville, Tennessee on September 15, 1957.

Doug was preceded in death by his father, William Douglas Ramsey Sr., and his stepfather, Troy Joe Painter. He is survived by his loving mother, Mary Nell Painter, and his devoted sisters, Rhonda Negrete and Susan Woodrow. His memory will forever live on through his children, April Ramsey and partner Brandon, Kristen Painter, and Hannah Hicks and partner Andy, as well as the mother of his children Tracy Hicks who was his life-partner of many years.

As a father and grandfather, Doug cherished his role and the precious moments shared with his grandchildren: Samuel Scarlett, Brent and Christopher Oaks, MacKenzie Jaeger, and Braelyn Blevins. Their laughter and joy brightened his days and created lasting memories that will be treasured by the family.

Doug found solace and happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He had a deep passion for watching NASCAR racing, experiencing the thrill of the track. He also found peace while fishing and camping, relishing in the beauty of nature alongside his friends and family. Doug's affection for his dogs was unmatched, and their loyal companionship brought him immeasurable comfort.

His warm smile, gentle spirit, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Doug's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love and cherished memories will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

During this difficult time, let us come together to celebrate the life of William Douglas Ramsey, Jr. and find solace in the beautiful moments shared with him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Family and friends will meet Monday, July 31, 2023 at Piney Grove Cemetery, 2109 Piney Grove Church Rd, Knoxville, TN 37909 for an 10:00 AM Interment Service with Charlie Reynolds officiating.
